The present paper outlines John Lachs’s idea of stoic pragmatism and develops its important part that is the relation between the individual and the community. In this paper the Author introduces the pragmatist philosophical approach of one of the most important philosopher of the last years, that is Richard Rorty. His post-metaphysical philosophy whose roots are the ideas developed by Emerson, Thoreau, James and Dewey implies an anti-foundationalist vision of democracy based on the idea of “ironical” liberal men. This ironical men no longer believes in the traditional values and beliefs but tries to create new vocabularies to sensitize people to the suffering of others. The Author following Rorty’s suggestions stresses the possibilities of this “romantic” democracy against the more traditional metaphysical approaches.

This article discusses the ‘computer game’ as a pragmatic concept. A dual nature of the computer game as both a pragmatic idea and a pragmatic meaning is introduced. Practical meanings of the computer game correspond with the concrete effects that engaging with computer games produces in an individual.
